The current global epidemic inspired me to develop a model for education purpose.

What it does

Based on many user-customizable inputs, the model predicts how the coronavirus will spread within a city given its population's preparedness, density, and other attributes.

How I built it

I built it purely in Java.

Challenges I ran into

Information visualization was meant to be a huge part of this project. However, we could not make the visualization modules work and couldn't find suitable alternative. We had to give up that part.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

This is my first Hackathon and I'm already building something helpful!

What I learned

I used to study algorithms rigorously but always thought they were interview tools, until in this project I actually had to put many algorithms I learned in use. This is exciting and motivating!

What's next for Coronavirus Model

I want to complete the features (especially visualization) that we did not get to complete. Furthermore, I want to host it on a website so it's more accessible to the general public.
