Inspiration

I've been running home school for my 2 nieces and nephew while schools are closed. Their mum and dad are also working from home (as am I!) so it's been a struggle trying to run it efficiently.

What it does

HomeSkool provides:  1) An easy way to organise the day, allowing you to input schedules and setting off automatic bells when it's time for the next lesson or break 2) A place parents/carers can find quality content rated by other parents, to use for lesson inspiration when teachers haven't provided guidance for a class. Crucially this would provide a way to monetise it too, allowing platforms and apps to advertise their lessons on there (and again, allowing parents/carers to rate those).

How I built it

At the moment this is a proof of concept that I put together with help from my niece and nephew.

Challenges I ran into

Working with a 10 year old and 13 year old :)

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Mocking this up very quickly alongside running said home school

What I learned

Craft Manager for Sketch is a pain to install.

What's next for HomeSkool

Building it properly with the help of some dev friends!  Then reaching out to some fellow carers to see what they think of the finished product (they had some input on the idea already). Then, once live, posting it on various parenting forums and asking parents to share, to get it all started! I may also ask some teacher friends to help with initial content generation.
