Inspiration

We got feedback from friends of us who are teaching remotely now and have problems to keep track of the progress of the students.

What it does

To give the teachers a live overview from the progress of the students we developed a mobile app where the students can easily update their tasks and the teacher has an live dashboard with the progress of the students. With that the teacher can adopt the tasks for each student and help students who don't have the support from home.

How we built it

We build the mobile app for Android with Android-Studio in Java. The backend is done with javascript to provide sockets to exchange the data from the app to the server.

Challenges we ran into

The backend and socket communication were producing problems.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

A working Android App and a functional dashboard - all done with love and pretty UIs :)  In addition a Jitsi webconference server and a chat server!

What we learned

Implementing sockets in Android is more complicated than we thought.

What's next for Open EDU App

Improve socket communication and backend. And develop the IOs app.
