We were inspired mainly by the data visualisation project listed on this article, but since there were some issues using the technologies listed on this article, we went back to the drawing board and used available apis and frameworks to fashion our own data visualisation program. We wanted to create a website that would hosted not only the most up-to-date information on COVID-19 in a easy to read manner, but also resources for those affected by the pandemic.
What it does
PyCDV is a website that compiles statistics, facts, and information about the current COVID-19 pandemic. You can view current statistics on cases from countries around the world, as well as US states and counties. You can also view what local, state, and global news are saying about the pandemic. Furthermore, there is a collection of helpful donation links, resources, and organizations that are working to mitigate the damage caused by COVID-19. These are available to people who may need help or to volunteers looking to help out.
How we built it
Challenges we ran into
Accomplishments that we're proud of!
We collaborated efficiently and effectively over multiple timezones and busy schedules! Our website hosts a variety of useful data and functionalities.
What we learned
Every member learned something new during this experience. Some of us coded in a programming language or implemented tools we've never used before. We also had to navigate integrating each person's individual work into one final product.
What's next for PyCDV
We hope to keep up to date with the COVID-19 pandemic as it progresses and to continue updating and fine-tuning our website.
