Inspiration

Humanity is the first species to change its own environment with conscious awareness. This shift in perspective brought forward a new idea: Instead of being subject to natural forces, humanity is now a “world-changing force of nature”, but they can/must choose how they act.

What it does

Self-healing plant. We use certain genes know as PGIP proteins to self-healing plant diseases caused by virus, slime molds, and bacteria affecting and destryoing plant

Terraforming. The use of bacteria to reapir soil damges caused by chemical pesticides. When  biologists  encounter  problems  that  cannot  be solved  in agriculture by currently available technologies, shared creativity  between  researchers  drives  the development of better and smarter tools.

Livestock Thanks to genetic we programmed genetic  modified bacteria  by wich we restore in soils completely to be fertile. The diversity, modularity, and efficacy of CRISPR-Cas systems are driving a biotechnological revolution.

How I built it

It is a fusion molecule that comes from the combination of genes of plant origin, suitable for shield the vital organs from virus attack. We built it with new crispr-cas techniques.

Challenges I ran into

Our starting point was research into the functioning of a plant protein, a Super-Defense protein. It’s a leucine-rich repeat protein involved in ambient defense: Polygalacturonase-inhibiting protein (PGIP). PGIP are structural plant cell wall components that belong to the superfamily of leucine-zipper protein. These proteins protect plants from fungal, viral and bacterial invasion. The main challenge was to fuse this protein with other proteins.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We block some disease of plants that were affecting crops and agricolture economy in Italy. We helped farmers avoiding lose money in the long term.

What I learned

Agricolture is heading to a complete biologic system to produce with better quality and it is looking for a disruptive way to improve lives, safely, in respect with nature.

What's next for TerraForX Terraforming

Self-healing plant We use certain genes know as PGIP proteins to self-healing plant diseases caused by virus, slime molds, and bacteria affecting and destryoing plants. The mechanism is to identfy membrane of exogen microorganism right on the plant surface. One the PGIP get in touch with harmful microrganism, PGIP start a violent oxide-reduction activities destroying  microoganism and protecting  cultivations without using harmful pesticides and without modifying the DNA of the plant itself.

Terraforming. The use of bacteria to reapir soil damges caused by chemical pesticides. When  biologists  encounter  problems  that  cannot  be solved  in agriculture by currently available technologies, shared creativity  between  researchers  drives  the  development of better and smarter tools. New technologies, in turn, push the frontier of biology. We’ve change the microbioma of soil. The symbiosis In 50 year of large use of pesticides with plant and soil held in communication by bacteria is deeply changed or completely disrupted.

RNA-guided Cas enzymes have been adopted as tools to manipulate the genomes of cultured cells, animals, and plants, accelerating the pace offundamental research and enabling clinical and agricultural breakthroughs.
