This pandemic has caused a lot of people to lose hope and the thought that they won't be able to communicate with another person, not including family, may fill them with loneliness. That's why we want to create an app or a website.
What it does
The website would show tasks that people in their communities or cities could accomplish with other people and it would encourage them to progress and to find the friends to whom they can talk to after the quarantine will be lifted. To be more specific, it will be a website, where people would find tasks and bonus objectives. For instance, one week will be tied to a particular topic and people will have to draw, take a photo of, animate or do anything else creatively. There will also be additional objectives people can try to incorporate in their work, which will be more challenging.
How we built it
We built a website in wordpress and mostly relied on elementor, an editing plugin. A design template was used and then we polished it: created new pages, edited them both on the front and back ends.
Challenges we ran into
Because half of us were first year bachelor chemistry students and the other half were first year bachelor program systems students, it was extremely difficult to fit into the time of this hackathon, because we did not know how to use wordpress before using it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the fact that we created a functional website from scratch with a program we didn't know how to use beforehand.
What we learned
We learned how to use wordpress and other valuable skills.
What's next for Uniting the world one communal task at a time
We will not expand upon this idea.
