With the limited number of tests available and fear that you may already have the virus but not show any symptoms I wanted to create an application that can determine your immediate need to receive a Covid-19 test and inform the user of the availability of tests within their area. On top of creating that, I figured it would also be a great idea to include the current number of cases of Covid-19 for easy access when using the application as well.
What it does
Currently Vita Medical Solutions Covid-19 Application asks the user some general questions related to symptoms and other health issues revolved around the Covid-19 virus. We also get contact info and insurance info that we can provide to determine eligibility for a Coronavirus test. Included as well is information and statistics on current cases, deaths, and recovered individuals of Covid-19 globally and in each state of the United States.
How I built it
This application is a mobile app and website application. The mobile application was created in flutter/dart and utilizes apis from Coronavirus Tracker, The Covid Tracking Project, and NovelCovid API to gather the statistics on current cases, deaths, and recoveries from Covid-19. The website application was created in PHP Laravel with a MySQL database.
Challenges I ran into
Creating the application in a short amount of time.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Finishing a majority of the application within the allotted time to work with.
What I learned
Free public api availability and how quickly it is configured for public use. A lot of this would not be possible without the help of this info being easily able to obtain and provide to others.
What's next for Vita Medical Solutions Covid App
What is next is informing users within the app when test are available in their area or their eligibility for tests through app notifications as well include a feed of articles related to the Covid-19 Pandemic that can be broken down state by state. Finally pushing it to the Play Store and App Store.
